Getting the look ready for the character of Billy Osgood, through trying out costumes and make up, with the clothes coming from both Billy and a friend of mine who used to to dress a lot in emo style. Just like the mise en scene the aim is to create a balance between masculine and feminine signfiers.

Note for mise en scene, the Star Wars posters seen here will be part of that removed from the room as they are extremely strong signifiers of mainstream culture.
Also still to be decided, whether to use femine red more typically gothic purple black lipstick.

Tried out tying the hair to a small ponytail, but I decided it didn't fit because it looked to childish and could even be read as of a hyperfeminine lesbian steroetype

Black coat to really signify outsider, as well as fingerless gloves and some armbands. I intend to have her wake up in a black, typically male t shirt and then change into this costume.

Some drawers open, clothing hanging out, that kind of thing? Clothing on floor can be used as part of what she changes into if you want to signify her as somewhat grungy?
Make-up - don't forget to consider the eyes.
Fake piercings or tats another option.
If you looked at other costume options, photo them + add to the post (sub-heading: other clothing considered)
The vinyl would be a great touch; don't worry too much about having the record you'll soundtrack - great if you can, but you can avoid showing the sleeve with framing if need be, or just show it as out in the paper inner sleeve, or already on the turntable. LP might be one of your diegetic titles?
Remember, you need to post a very specific list of your intended titles (based clearly on research): order, wording, names you'll use, and some indication of planned font/colour/size/framing [and whether that varies]/animation [if any] - you can use font sites to research options (which can be downloaded and installed on Mac)
For music, remember that ultimately you'll only need to record 30-60 seconds of your version of the track (unless you carry it through to the next scene; unlikely), so consider where in the existing track you'd want to start your version, and which vocal/lyric lines you want to include. You could cut what you want in Final Cut and get that to Mr Reilly in your weekly slot (same applies for other music - and remember that Hannah is rather musical too!)

Hannah said she could cut out a fake vinyl label. She does not have any pets, but instead I have come up with an alternative of her coming out of the dream her sister throwing a ball at her, following by an homophobic insult, before running out. An insulting younger sibling is a common trait, it was used both in Skins and Sixteen Candles I am wondering if I Want Candy by Bow Wow Wow would fit which was part of the soundtrack of Napoleon Dynamite as well. Then if it continued playing while Billy goes down own out of her room, it would be the same effect of diegetic sound turning into non diegetic sound like with the vinyl record playing in the opening of Billy Elliot.
DeleteAlso, in terms of hinting that she lives in a neglectful family, her father has said he would be willing to lie sleeping on the sofa, and we would place beer bottles near there to signify his alcoholism. She could then also bring him breakfast briefly, similar to Pretty In Pink where the father needs to be looked after.
Also does the corsette work on the dress or is it too much?
